Psychotherapy is effective for a wide variety of issues such as anxiety, low self esteem, dealing with grief, relationship problems and body image.

Psychotherapy is often referred to as a “talking therapy” and involves talking through your problems with a trained therapist who can help you to make sense of your feelings, learn about your role in relationships, build confidence and self esteem, address issues from your past or set goals for the future and work towards achieving them. However, these principles can also be applied to working creatively with clients who may have communication difficulties by using pictures, symbols, sign language and modelling. The therapy sessions are confidential and provide the client with a safe and supportive environment in which to work through their problems.

Psychotherapy is effective for a wide variety of issues such as anxiety, low self esteem, dealing with grief, relationship problems and body image. It can be used to help people make sense of their own behaviour and actions, learn new skills to deal with difficult situations, become more aware of how they respond to others and why. Psychotherapy can also be used simply as a way to deal with the pressures of everyday life, to provide additional support and non-judgemental space to offload.

Sessions usually last 50 minutes and the number of sessions can vary depending upon a person’s needs. Most people find somewhere between six and 12 sessions is right for them, although it may be more suitable to work on a longer-term basis. I work in a way that is right for each individual, at their own pace, utilising the methods most appropriate.
